Maxine Phillips Garrett, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 surrounded by her family. Maxine was born March 22, 1925 in Barren County. She was the daughter of the late Jennings and Lovie Phillips. She owned and operated Garretts Green Valley Grocery and served her community there for over 50 years. She was a member of the Siloam Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son: Phillip Garrett “Jeanne”; three grandchildren: Joshua Garrett “Leslie”, Jarrad Garrett and Molly Turner “Daniel”; Three great-grandchildren: Lane Garrett, Kira Garrett and Max Garrett and one expected in August; one sister: Joyce Wilkerson “Orville”.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Demmon Garrett, and one son Ronnie Garrett. Three sisters, Maude Billingsley, Laura Connor and Jean Greer. One brother, Clyde Phillips.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to your favorite charity.
