Dan Uptegraff, 76, Glasgow, formerly of Wimauma, FL, died Thursday, January 05, 2012, at Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green. A native of Flint, MI, he was a son of the late Alton and Eiloe Starkweather Uptegraff, and step-son of the late Warren VanNattan.

Mr. Uptegraff was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean Conflict; served 15 years with the Bradenton, FL Police Department; and was a retired employee of Sears. He was an avid fan of Driving Horses—he had driven on several occasions and also had served with his wife, Pat, as a timer for timed events. He was a fan and supporter of his son’s and grandson’s car racing and was an avid RV’er and traveler. He was a member of the Glenview Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Pat; their four children, Kathy Taylor of Palmetto, FL, Linda Adair of Brandon, FL, Thomas Uptegraff and wife Debra, and Valorie Smith and husband Doug, all of Glasgow; 9 grandchildren, Richard Uptegraff (Charlotte) of Parrish, FL, Billy Uptegraff (Carissa) of Glasgow, Michael Uptegraff (Jessica) of Plainfield, CT, Geoffrey Taylor of Palmetto, FL, Sarah Taylor of Sarasota, FL, Thelma Adair of Brandon, FL, Emily Bounajma (Amin) of Tampa, FL, Dakota Smith of Glasgow, and Hannah Taylor of Palmetto; 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
