Marvin Dale Cumbee

February 2, 1940     ~     March 22, 2011

Marvin Dale Cumbee, 71, Glasgow, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Metcalfe County, he was a son of the late Reynold Marvin Cumbee and Virginia Wheeler Cumbee. He was a retired foreman at Mallory Capacitor in Glasgow, a United States Navy veteran, and a member of the Baptist faith. He had been attending the Big Meadow Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shrada Cumbee; five children, Debbie Ward (Laymon Riggs), Rita Key (Weldon), Raymond “Buddy” Ward, Sandy Lyons (David), and Rhonda Houchens (Chris Brown); seven grandchildren, Shannon Ward, Alicia Huff, Brandon Key, Kali Lyons, Michael Lyons, Chelsea Houchens and Brent Houchens; five great-grandchildren, Trisen Ward, Adrick Ward, Angel Florian, Corey Key and Caryfaye Huff; one brother, Freddie Cumbee (Sue); one sister, Jean Burris (Roger); one sister-in-law, Pat Cumbee; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Cumbee.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Bowles Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
