George D. Abney

George D. Abney, 72, of Knob Lick, died Sunday, February 06, 2011 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late William Frank Abney and Vera Rachael Trammell Abney. He was the pastor of God’s House Church in Knob Lick.

He is survived by his wife Mary Chapman Abney; four sons: Donald Abney, Wayne Abney, Russell Abney and his wife Brenda, and Billy Abney and his wife Debbie; one daughter: Lisa Abney Wheat and her husband Marcell; one foster daughter: Hester May Likens and her husband Ottis; two brothers: Felix Abney of Mt. Sterling, Ohio and Ralph Lee Abney of Smiths Grove, KY; three sisters: Josie Morgan of Glasgow, Martha Buckner of Arizona and Leota Williams of Davenport, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; four foster grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Lighthouse Church on Highway 1846 in Horse Cave with burial in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Lighthouse Church.

    brother george would have told you he was pretty .he might have asked you how ya doin boy he might have told you god loves you he might have said ill be there he might have done what you asked and he was always there when you needed him most.. i would always call him up when my mind was troubled and he would always pray for me and ask god to bless me well god blessed me the day i met you george …you are always remembered in my mind and in my heart….
