John Thomas England, 70, and his wife, Jewell Blythe England, 67, of Glasgow, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.
John was a native of Barren County and a son of the late William Perry England and Lockie Catherine Abston England. He was a retired machine operator at SKF and was affectionately known as “Papa John”. He was a member of the Bearwallow Masonic Lodge, an avid trader in small livestock and poultry, and had many special friends in the trading business.
Jewell was a native of Metcalfe County, a daughter of the late Radford and May Muse Blythe. She was a retired employee of Carhartt. She and John were both members of the Immanuel Ministry at Legrande and were both living testimonies of their faith.
John and Jewell are survived by two sons, Doug England (Barbara) and Johnny Ray England (Leigh Ann) all of Glasgow; two daughters, Brenda Fancher of Glasgow and Bonnie Tas (Lorenzo) of Horse Cave; 8 grandchildren, Jodie Willenbecher, Mitch Cross, John Perry Ogles, Steve Allen Jewell, Jeremiah England, Johnny Lee England, Taylor Dayne Jewell and Rhea Ann England; four great-grandchildren, Cole and Cade Willenbecher and Makaylee and Makenzie Cross; several nieces and nephews.
They were preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Allen England. John was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters; Jewell was preceded by 6 brothers and sisters.
Additionally, Jewell is survived by one brother, Terry Blythe (Joyce) of Brandenburg; four sisters, Mary Brown (Raymond), Ruth Rigsby (Bobby) and Cloreen “Willie” Brown (Junior) all of Edmonton, and Sylvia Thompson (Billy) of London, KY.
Joint funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Words can not express how broken our hearts are right now. Papa John and Mama Jewell are true testiments of God’s love. If I were to ask my girls what they wanted to do, everytime I asked it would be to go see Papa John. Please know that our prayers and love are with you all at this time.
Deepest Sympathy goes out to the Families – It will be the little things that you will remember,the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now,it will be the memories of these little things that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again. We will miss you Johnny & Jewell!!

I worked with John @ SKF Industries for many years.
I saw the couple @ Walmart last week and we had a very friendly conversation.
We joked about the fact that were growing older gracefully, but neither looked their age.
John was always friendly to me @ work and anywhere we met.

We are so sorry to hear of this tragic loss. John has been a friend of ours for years and we have bought lots of poultry supplies and cage wire from him. We are fellow members of the Green River Poultry Club and we will miss them dearly. May God bless the family in their time of loss. They were certainly a testimony to their faith!!! Bonnie, my heart breaks for you. I did not realize U had several brothers. I kind of remember you having 1 brother. It’s been so long ago. I haven’t seen you in years. I still remember Jewell bringing me your hand me downs & you were so much TALLER than me & I just loved em’.. I’d roll em up & smile & grin from ear to ear, lol. I always thought you & she were beautiful & I wanted to dress just like you!! My mom & her weren’t as close in the latter years as they were back when they both worked at Handmarkers years ago, but my mom sure always thought a lot of Jewell. I just really hated to hear this & my thougths are with you & your family.

I am truly sorry about John and Jewell. I worked with John at SKF and he sponsored me on my first Emmaus Walk. It’s hard to let them go, but we know they are at the feet of Jesus having a wonderful time. May God bless you and comfort you.
John & Jewell accepted me as family at a time in my life when I needed a family and for that I will forever be grateful, thankful and blessed to have been a part of their lives. I will always remember them for their kindness, Christain example & fun times at the chicken shows. LOL May God Bless this family and ease the pain in this time of loss!

Bonnie & Family, I just saw your dad at the doctor office last week,I would joke with him,and say we must be some sick people as much as we run into each other at the doctor;at a time like this its hard to find the words to say,its hard when you know your parents are sick and dont have long,but for them to pass unexpectedly and at the same time,I cannot imagine the pain or hurt you children feel at this time,you all have each other and your spouses,and above all God,with that unity and the many people that love them and

Johnny and Jewell were always a pleasure to be with. They always talked about their love of family and GOD. Lots of love from the Barton girls!!!!!
Victoria and I are deeply sorry for your loss. I remember as a teenager going to John T. and Jewell’s house and always feeling very welcomed. They were always very pleasant to be around. Jewell would give us girls advice about the boys and John T. taught us to dance! Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.
