Verna Denton

August 4, 1918     ~     December 7, 2009

Verna Jewell Denton, 91, of Glasgow, died Monday, December 07, 2009, at a local nursing facility. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Willard H. and Valley M. Parrish Wells, a homemaker, and a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include four great-nieces and nephews, Gregory Moore, Glen Moore, Ginger Nichols and Gina Moore all of Glasgow; two nieces, Rebecca Gabehart and Serena Haynes both of Bowling Green; one nephew, James H. Denton of Franklin, TN.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Bill” Denton; her sister, Elizabeth Davis; her step-father, Chester Moore and her half –brother, C.A. Moore, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In keeping with Verna’s love of cats, it is suggested that donations be made to Barren River Animal Welfare Association.
