Herman L. Ward, 88, Horse Cave, died Thursday, August 06, 2009, at his residence. A son of the late Henry and Ada Thacker Ward, he was a retired farmer and a member and Deacon of the Hillside Baptist Church. He was also an army veteran of WW II.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Compton Ward; his children, Anna C. (Andy) Logsdon of Horse Cave, Larry (Carla) Ward of Cave City, Schumlia Ward of Kodak, TN, Steve (Kellie) Ward of Glasgow and Kelly (Mo) Zunnurain of Cave City; his grandchildren, Brock (Erricia) Ward, Shannon (Kenny) Matthews, Karisa Ward, Molly Ward, Kelci Dunn and Mattie Zunnurain; his great-grandchildren, Hannah Ward, Samuel Matthews and Aliyah Ward; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Lee Ballard Ward; two brothers, Willard and Eugene Ward; three sisters, Rosie Bragg, Pearl Goodnight and Beulah Baise.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
