Betty Lee Peterson Cox, 65, Glasgow, died Monday, December 08, 2008, at her residence.  A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Mary Virginia Lee Peterson and James Harold Peterson, Jr.

Betty was valedictorian of her 1961 graduating class at Hiseville High School and was a graduate of Bowling Green College of Commerce.  She was employed in the offices of Howard Clinic from May 1962 until it closed in 1995, at which time she became employed by Dr. Anthony Flannery.  She remained at that office until April 2004, when she became administrative assistant at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Betty was also very involved with music.  She was organist at Hiseville Baptist Church and Cave City Baptist Church until December 1965 when she became organist at Calvary Baptist Church, where she continued to be a member and organist.  She also served as organist of St. Helen Catholic Church from October 1995 until October 2008 and at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home from 1994 until the present.

She had a fondness of animals and was blessed with two very special dogs, a poodle, Suzette, and later on a shih tzu, China Liu.

Betty is survived by her husband, Philip Cox; one son, Lee Cox and his wife, Connie, of Glasgow; one grandson, Dawson Lee Cox; one granddaughter, Lexi Shea Cox.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery.  Friends may call after 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
