Eddie Cecil Scott, 86, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at his residence.

The Cumberland County native was a retired farmer, carpenter and former owner of Scotty’s Drive-In. He was the son of the late Eddie Burr Scott and Hila Dulworth Scott. Mr. Scott was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Earleen Simpson Scott; his brother-in-law, Gene Simpson; his sisters-in-law, Norma McKinney, Lou Ann Simpson, Ida Bell Simpson and Fina Simpson; a host of special nieces and nephews; and caretakers Sharon Garmon, Mary Glover, Sheila Whitlow, Jennifer Osborne, Brenda Bowles and Pam Newell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby John Scott, and three sisters, Ozell Arnold, Mildred Givens and Betty Scott.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Brother Bob Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Burkesville Cemetery with military rites by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
