Jane B. Compton, 70, Glasgow, died Saturday, November 11, 2006, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital.  A native of Breckenridge County, she was a daughter of the late Elliott and Margaret Wardrip Bishop and wife of the late James Peyton Compton.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Irvington Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Ann Stilts and husband, Fred, and Gail Engler and husband, Russell, all of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Derek Byrd of Bristel, CT, Amy Barry of Irvington, KY,  Kacie Byrd of Glasgow and Micheal Sexton of Harned; three great-grandchildren, Lily and Tyler Barry of Irvington, and Trenton Byrd-Shipp of Glasgow; 8 sisters, Darlene Dowell, Eltie Ferry and Lucille Lyons all of Brandenburg, KY, Bessie Cravens of Ekron, KY, Barbara Miller and Lorene Compton of Irvington, Doris McVicar of Indiana and Anne Stephens of Shepherdsville, KY; four brothers, Bill Bishop of Harned, Kenny Bishop of Ekron, Donnie Bishop of Garfield, KY, and Bobby Bishop of Brandenburg; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Sexton; two brothers, James Bishop and Harold Bishop.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. EST Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at the Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, KY with burial in the Garfield Cemetery.  Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Local arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.
