Betty Marie Stephens, 64, Cave City, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at the Caverna Hospital.  A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Marshall R. Byrd and Magdalene Eudy Byrd.  She was a homemaker and a member of the United Faith Independent Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Connie Scott and husband, Phillip, of Hardyville, Thelema Cooper and husband, Grant, of Portland, TN, Charlotte Simmons and husband, Mark, of Cave City, Sheila Ford and husband, Terry, of Glasgow; two sons, Marshall Stephens and wife, Kathy, of Cave City, and David Stephens and wife, Peggy, of Hardyville; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Tomblin, Carla Scott, Bobby Stephens, April Stephens, Elizabeth Stephens, Amber Stephens, Victoria “Tori” Stephens, Tyler Ford, Jacob Ford and Hailey Fancher; 2 great-grandchildren, Matthew Tomblin and Andrew Scott; five sisters, Lavern Wilson of Columbus, IN, Mary Ballard, Emmer Ballard and Ann Honeycutt all of Glasgow, and Alveda Jessie of Cave City; three brothers, Tommy Byrd of Glasgow, Marshall E. Byrd of Hiseville and Harold Byrd of Big Meadow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Howard” Stephens; 1 granddaughter, Heather Scott; three sisters, Jennie Scott, Ruby Garmon and Susie Ennis; two brothers, James Jones and Don Byrd.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery.  Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
