Marvin Leslie Fields, 78, Glasgow, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.  A native of Metcalfe County, he was the son of the Welby and Bessie Gibson Fields.

Mr. Fields was retired from the United States Air Force, having seen action in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.  After retirement, he owned a farm and worked as a carpenter in later years.  He was a member of the Rolling Hills Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Vanessa Howell and Connie (John) Berry of Glasgow; one son, Donald (Brenda) of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; four grandchildren, Joseph “Joey” Howell and Joshua Berry of Glasgow, and Christopher and Ashley Fields of Ohio; one great-grandson, Nathan Scott Hood of Glasgow; one brother, Billy McCoy Fields of Glasgow; one sister, Mavis Maylene Snead of Glasgow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ruby Dee Fields, and three sisters, Bobbie Fields, Barbara Fields and Mary Rigdon.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens.  Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
