Joel Wayne Read, 47, Pigeon Forge, TN, died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.  A native of Barren County and former resident and businessman in Glasgow, he was a son of the late Kempton and Nell Harrison Read, a member of “The Gathering” Church in Tennessee and the Dry Fork Coonhunter’s Club.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Rita Wheet Read;  four children, Joel Read II, Jamie Read, Josh Read and his fiancée Audra Hagan, and Jacob Read; two grandchildren, Allen Arms and Kirby Tate Read; two brothers, Dudley Read and his wife, Mary, and David Read and his wife,Billie; two sisters, Wanda Glass and her husband, Joe, and Amanda Read; brothers-in-law, Mark Younkin and wife, Julie, Steve Younkin and Jon Younkin; sister-in-law, Cynthia York and her husband, Mark; several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Read, his step-mother, Faye Smith Read and a brother-in-law, Raymond Younkin.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.  Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services in Tennessee will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at “The Gathering” Church with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge.  Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rawlings Funeral Home in Sevierville, TN and the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow.
