Oval Nichols Phillips, 87, Glasgow , died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A native of Barren County , she was the daughter of the late Earl and Polly Shirley Nichols. She was owner and operator of the Phillips Paint and Paper Store in Glasgow, a charter member of the Glasgow B & PW Club, a member of the First Christian Church and the Golden Rule Sunday School Class.

Survivors include five nieces and nephews, Jo-Ann Tolle and her husband, James, of Glasgow, Philip Nichols and his wife, Ann, of Danville, Wayne Nichols and his wife, Susan, of Glasgow, Judy Flanders and Suzanne Nichols of Glasgow; nine great-nieces and nephews, Angie Witty, Allyson Sutherland, Steve Laforge, Cindy Greer, Mark Nichols, Julie Ashmun, Polly Nichols, Heather Thomas and Laura Nichols; four great-great-nieces, Sarah Greer, Shelby Greer, Leslie LaForge and Hayden Sutherland; two sisters-in-law, Velma Nichols and Helen Nichols; her special caregiver, Nina Thompson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hazel Phillips; two brothers, Joe Nichols and Harvey Nichols; and one nephew, Ronnie Nichols.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery . Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday at the funeral home.
