Hugh Wallace Peden, 84, Temple Hill, died Wednesday morning at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late F. E. and Iva Saylor Peden. Mr. Peden was a lifelong dairy farmer of the Temple Hill Community, a member of the Poplar Log Church of Christ, member of the Temple Hill Sportsman Club, a former director of the Temple Hill Fire Department, a member of the H.B. Grant Masonic Lodge at Etoile, and a veteran of WW II, having served with the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Katherine Smith Peden; two sons, Douglas and wife, Diane, Charles and wife, Becky, all of Temple Hill; four daughters, Margaret Sparks and husband, Leroy, of Bowling Green, Glenda Boston and husband, Eugene, Linda Wood and husband, Mike, Barbara Miller and husband, Delane, all of Temple Hill; thirteen grandchildren, Donnie Ray Peden of Gamaliel, Craig and Tina Sparks of Bowling Green, Dr. Brad Sparks of Louisville, Brian Peden, Temple Hill, Renee’ Hendrick, Bowling Green, Casey Peden, Glasgow, Shannon Boston and Sherry Hildreth of Radford, VA, Michelle Murphy, Burkesville, Mica Wood, Temple Hill, Brooke and Tyler Miller of Temple Hill; seven great-grandchildren, Dustin, Andrew, Travis and Matthew Peden, Eli and Kelsey Sparks, and Corbin Murphy; a special niece, Ernestine Beals of Glasgow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Hugh Donald Peden; two grandsons, Jerry Wayne Wood and Michael Wayne Wood; two sisters, Maureen Smith and Francis McClard.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Poplar Log Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Josh’s Friends or the Poplar Log Church of Christ.
