Violet M. Wilcoxen, 93, Raleigh, NC, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, in Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Stewart Wilcoxen, fifty years ago to the day, March 27, 1952. Born in Pittsburgh, the youngest of nine children, she is survived by her ninety-eight year old sister, Alice Cooper of Indiana, Pa.

For many years, “Vi” was an active volunteer, sewing for Wake Medical Center and was active with the Ladies Auxiliary of the T.J. Samson Community Hospital and attended the First Christian Church, while she lived in Glasgow.

In addition to her sister, survivors include her daughter, Dottie Kinsman and her husband, Richard of Raleigh; her son, Cliff Wilcoxen and his late wife, Naomi of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Beth Dazey, David Kinsman and his wife, Jena of Glasgow, Jan Brown and Dean Kinsman; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, 6-9 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh. A memorial service will be held Saturday at Saint Marks United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Graveside services will be held in Pittsburgh, Pa, Monday at 11 a.m. at Avalon Lutheran Cemetery.
