Annie Lou Carter, 87, Gary, Indiana, died Sunday, September 23, 2001 in Gary. Born September 6, 1914 in Hiseville, she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Annie Steen Strader. In 1933, she married William A. Carter and moved to Gary. She was a member of the Marquette Park United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League.

Survivors include two sons, William Carter, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Munster, IN., and Bryan Carter and his wife, Carolyn, of Memphis; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1971; five brothers, Ulysses J. Strader, Charles Strader, Bryan Woods Strader, Bruce Strader and Sam Strader; one sister, Frances Ward; and a special friend, Ben McReynolds.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Marquette Park United Methodist Church, (215 N. Grand Boulevard, Gary, IN 46403) would be appreciated.
