Ruth F. Wood, 79, Lucas, died Monday at the Scottsville Medical Center. The daughter of the late Virgil and Euna Berry Francis, she was a retired teacher at Austin-Tracy School, where she had taught for 31 years, and a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ruth Mabry of Lucas and Loretta Hazel and her husband, Joe of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Lloyd Wilson Mabry, Scott Mabry, Christopher Hazel and Angela Hazel; one great-grandchild, Zachary Hazel; three nephews, Rodney Burgess, Dennis Burgess and Michael Burgess all of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milzie Wilson Wood, a son-in-law, Don Mabry and a sister, Thelma Burgess.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Caney Fork Cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Anyone wishing to do so, may sign an online guest register at www.hatchersaddler.com.
