Guest Register for Mildred Atherton
Mildred was my friend for 70+ years and we shared many memories - class reunions, vacations, laughter (lots of giggling), tears, and visits in each others homes. Oh, how I loved her Dad's fried potatoes. One of my fondest memories was when she taught me how to drive. My Dad let us take his car, thinking she would be the driver, but really she was teaching me to drive. Luckily, we did not get into trouble and I did learn to drive. Thanks Friend. Best of all was sharing Christian friendship - oh, how we were blessed. Mildred, I will miss you but will be looking forward to spending Eternity with you in our Heavenly Home that has been prepared for us. Farewell for now Old Friend, With Love, Jean Morris Cannon
I worked as a secretary for Faye Atherton at the Barren County Extension Office from 1980 to 1985. I loved Mr. Atherton very much and was very sad by his sudden death shortly after his retirement. I did not get to know Mildred as much until after Faye's death. But I saw her several times and always enjoyed talking with her when I would see her. She overcame so much in life - she was a great example of how to keep going no matter the obstacles. They were a very close couple and I am sure they are once again together.
